A new design was introduced for the ten cent denomination in 1916. Created by Adolph Weinman, the obverse featured an image of Liberty in a winged cap, which led to the common identification Mercury Dimes. This series would become one of the most popular to collect.
Designed by Christian Gobrecht, the Seated Liberty Half Dime was the five cent denomination in the United States from 1837 to 1873. These coins are now prized by collectors, especially in higher grades.
