Job: Gender Rights Legal Specialist

The Tajikistan Gender Rights Legal Specialist will be working with the Country Director and resident Staff Attorneys in Dushanbe, Tajikistan to direct the gender rights program. The Specialist will conduct skills trainings on domestic violence and trafficking in persons through the facilitation of holistic community action.

 

The office will focus on gender-based violence and human trafficking, while working with local legal NGOs, legal professionals and government officials to raise awareness of gender rights, support the creation of effective protection mechanisms and strengthen the legal response to these endemic problems. Additionally, the Specialist will also work with regional bar associations to strengthen membership services as well as the development of continuing legal educations (CLE) programs. Requirements: Five years of relevant legal experience, including a strong background in issues of women’s rights and some knowledge of applicable international law. The applicant also needs to have strong management skills. Knowledge of the region and Russian language skills preferred, but not required. The Specialist will also be required to do some travel within the country.
